This study examined the process of reminiscence memory by the movement of the female aged with dementia of the dance therapy inducing reminiscence, and traced the change of reaction and body movement of the group by case study. For this study, 5 female aged in their 80s with heavy dementia who used home welfare center in Seoul. The dance therapy inducing reminiscence was revised by applying Heather Hill’s dance therapy Session structure and components for the aged with dementia. The therapy was executed for 12 times with 50 minutes per time. As a result, in the dance therapy inducing recollection, the female aged with dementia recollected child growth experience and plays in their youth at the earlier stage of their treatment. In the middle of the treatment, they recollected ordinary life pattern by seasons and school life. In particular, at their reminiscence of school period, their oppressed sentiment (under the war period in the Japanese occupation) by Japanese name, Japanese song and mutual surveillance and warning was expressed as rigid body shape to the front, and specific life features during the war period appeared. Such oppressed sentiment was attempted to resolve by the intervention of a therapist. The group members talked their emotion and consoled and support to each other. As such, in the middle stage of the therapy, various emotions such as joy by reminiscence of life, sorrow by loss, fear under the war, which gave an opportunity to deal with feeling. And the therapy inducing reminiscence helped a temporary improvement of exercise function with somatization reaction and improving blurred eyes and focusless pupil. At the final stage of the therapy, such emotions were stabilized, and the body of the aged who lied down while lifting up head and legs became relaxed naturally and comfortably with putting down head and legs on the floor so that they could achieve comfortable and bright face. Such therapy demonstrates that it is very usable as a means of treatment to restore senses and to keep memory by recognition of memory, physical and emotional reaction and change of the aged with dementia. Thus, it is recommended to make a continual study on dance therapy for long term effect and the treatment of dementia.
