The purpose of this study is to examine the preferences of English learning styles and learning strategies of Korean college students based on their gender and TOEIC score. Also, it aimed to explore how English learning styles and learning strategies are correlated. Data were collected from 158 students participated in both TOEIC courses and conversation courses. Reid’s The Language Learning Style Preference (1984) and Oxford’s The Strategy Inventory for Language Learning(1989) were used to measure students’ English learning style preference and learning strategy uses. Students’ responses were analyzed through statistics and revealed: 1) students’ TOEIC score had no significant effects on their learning styles, but the students with high scores preferred using kinesthetic, tactile, and vidual styles, 2) the TOEIC scores were significantly affected by learning strategies, 3) the correlation between English learning styles and learning strategies is shown to be statistically significant in case of auditory and individual learning styles by positively correlating the cognitive strategy. The implications of the findings are discussed.
