The city's waste discharge has increased and the MSWI(Municipal Solid Waste Incineration) fly ash of incinerator has gradually increased. Also, because it causes other environmental problems, its proper treatment method and measures are urgently required. In recent years, to utilize a large quantity of MSWI fly ash, many studies have studied its application as a cement substitute in the concrete production. Among these study results, mechanical properties of concrete which substitutes MSWI fly ash by about 5 ~ 10% of cement consumption is equal to general concrete? one, but has higher initial heat of hydration than general concrete as a weak point. Accordingly, this study is intended to contribute to apply MSWI fly ash to the concrete production through various mechanical properties tests for concretes which mix the effective normal coal fly ash for the decrease in heat of hydration, improvement of watertightness, and long term intensity improvement in order to improve such the weak point. Therefore, This paper presents a summary of the studies in utilizing MSWI fly ash as innovative civil engineering materials. Properties and suitability of the products derived from MSWI fly ash as an admixture in stabilization of cement replacement material will be discussed.
