This study is to examine the process of the development of a Korean language textbook for advanced learners, Yonsei Korean 5 and its unit structure as the result of the development. It will be reviewed what principles Yonsei Korean 5 is based on, and how the development of this book has proceeded. Yonsei Korean 5, a new textbook of KLI aims to facilitate teaching and learning Korean language by making up for the weak points in the previous textbook and by introducing more effective unit stuructre which realizes principles of the development. Yonsei Korean 5 is a topic-based, process-oriented, and learner-centered textbook, designed to fully-reflect authenticity and Korean culture and develop the advanced learner's communicative competence of four skills(speaking, listening, reading, and writing).
