Recently, there has been considerable improvements in computer assisted language learning based on corpora and natural language processing technology. In line with this, this paper provides an overview of relevant sites and projects believed to give us insight into developing a web-based program for diary writing. This paper also describes Project CANDLE, including German Tutor and English Tutor, which use corpora and Natural Language Processing technologies to construct online diary contents for elementary school children in Korea. The focus of the paper is on how these technologies might be made more useful by conceptualizing an appropriate framework in order to develop contents for diary writing by children.
