[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 12 weeks aerobic exercise on body composition, blood glucose and lipoprotein in Middle-age, Menopause and Elderly women. [Methods] Subjects were 38-75 years old and they were classified into three groups: Middle-age women (n=8), Menopause women (n=9), and Elderly women (n=13). All subjects performed aerobic exercise for 12 weeks by treadmill, ergometer cycling, and step climbing at 60-65% VO2max level. [Results] After 12 weeks aerobic exercise, there were strong tendency to decrease body weight, % body fat, blood glucose, total cholesterol and triglycerides in three groups. % body fat was significantly decreased after 6, 12 weeks in the in three groups that was seemed main effector inducing the change of blood glucose and total cholesterol and triglycerides. Comparing between the groups, body weight and % fat of Elderly women were lower than Middle-age and Menopause women(N.S.) but blood glucose of Elderly women was higher than other groups(N.S.). [Conclusion] In conclusion, body composition, blood glucose and lipoprotein were improved, and aerobic fitness and low leg muscle torque were also increased by 12 weeks aerobic exercise. Therefore midle-age, menopause and elderly women should be regularly exercised for promoting physical fitness and preventing aging.
