Bong, Mi-kyung. 2005. The study on the lexical information of time adverb in Korean. Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language, 30, 113～139. The purpose of this study is to analyze the lexical characteristics and to identify the usages of two time adverbs, ‘방금(just before)’ and ‘금방(just before, soon)’, based on concordances extracted from the large corpus of Korean. I begin my discussion with analyzing the definition of two adverbs in current dictionary, and examined lexical and pragmatic meaning, grammatical restriction, collocation information, register, and frequency through analyzing the corpus concordance. I extracted the concordance from ‘the 10,000,000-word balanced corpus’ developed in the ‘Sejong 21 Project’ organized by the National Academy of the Korean Language, and I used the program ‘글잡이Ⅱ' in extracting the concordance. The lexical information from analyzing the linguistic data will be useful in teaching vocabulary as a foreign language. (Yonsei University)
