Clean hydrogen becomes a promising candidate for the next generation fuel requirements replacing traditional fossil fuels. But the high cost and limited availability of noble electrocatalyst materials like Platinum, Ruthenium and Iridium limits the widespread usage and commercialization. Recent researches are focused on providing a suitable low cost electrocatalyst with non compromised electrocatalytic activity for oxygen evolution reaction. OER, the cathodic reaction for batteries and water electrolyzers, still remains as an enigma due to their reaction kinetics. It becomes inevitable to overcome the sluggish reaction kinetics in order to enhance the water splitting and other renewable techniques.
