Netflix’s “Kingdom” is about the process of a prince who child of a concubine from defeating zombies and protecting the throne from opposing forces. The main character, Crown Prince, has martial arts close to Daoist magic. His figure is close to a hero in the classic martial arts narrative. The limitations of birth, the heroic appearance, and the appearance of the chivalrous fighter staying in the guest’s seat, not the owner’s seat, appropriated the image of martial arts narrative as it is. In addition, the ideology of the protagonist is loyalty and filial piety. In this paper, we explore the structure of classical martial arts narratives projected into the Kingdom series, the arrangement of Korean-Chinese humanities contents, and their meaning. As a result, it was considered that the Kingdom series borrowed the structure of classical martial arts narratives featuring heroic chivalrous fighter and Korean, Chinese humanities contents were appropriate, such as Chinese Taoist hermit narrative and Jiangxi(僵尸) images. In addition, by using Korea’s actual historical events and geography as humanities contents, viewers were able to form a strong consensus on the actions of the main character of the Kingdom series. Zombies combined with these martial arts not only formed empathy through the use of motifs familiar to East Asian viewers, but were also accepted by Western viewers for their distinctive charm from existing Western zombies.
