This thesis makes a systematic analysis of the fear elements appearing in the background of Virtual Reality horror games. Thus, this thesis provided a systematic analysis of the fear elements appearing in the background of virtual reality horror games. Cognitive Psychology, Darwin"s Theory of Environmental Evolution, Emotional Psychology"s Fear Emotion Theory and Game Design, etc were applied in this research of the fear elements that emerged in the context of VR horror games. However, this study only used the VR background graphic image as the research object, and studies the fear elements in the VR horror game"s background. Thus, the spatial environment in the Virtual Reality horror games is distinguished by the Situational element and the Condition element. The case study selected three VR horror games, according to the analysis, fear elements in the background of VR horror games were confirmed. The research results showed that, in terms of fear elements appeared in the VR horror games, situational elements were divided into positions, directions, and opening and closing elements; conditional elements were divided into lighting, temperature, humidity and air elements. Through the systematic research of fear elements in VR horror games, the theoretical foundation was provided for the design of Virtual Reality horror games.
