The study aims to develop an apartment planning concept and evaluate its applicability for the elderly in terms of disaster satety. To derive an integrated plan element, we identified the disaster type classification system and the general planning concept of the residential space for the elderly through literature review. As a result, we defined 14 concepts for residential space planning for the elderly. In terms of "complex and community facility", 29 planning elements were found according to seven concepts of safety, accessibility, functionality, comfort, support, cognition, and habitability/connectivity. Concerning the "main building", a total of 18 planning elements were identified in five concepts: safety, accessibility, functionality, comfort, and cognition. In terms of "unit household", 16 items were derived from the five concepts of safety, accessibility, functionality, comfort, and habitability/connectivity. Based on the evaluation, apartment planning for the elderly in terms of disaster safety requires a method that can respond to the external environment rather than simply securing a physical evacuation space.
