The climate crisis is a long-term global issue, and many countries are making efforts to respond to climate change. Among them, Canada is implementing an aggressive environmental policy to the extent of establishing specific plans to reduce NDCs by 40-45% compared to 2005 by 2030 and reducing net emissions to zero by 2050, and revising laws and systems to realize them. However, the development and support of renewable energy is not enough to meet the country"s economy and energy demand, so the oil sands industry with high greenhouse gas emissions is continuing. In this paper, current environmental policies and oil sands industry trends and environmental responses in Canada are reviewed to suggest implications for implementation strategies for the carbon neutral goal.
