This study attempted to quantify the value of the 5-day market in Dongducheon and to provided implications for the market Revitalization. Thus, this study estimated the willingness to pay (WTP) for the 5-day market of Dongducheon using the contingent valuation method(CVM) and calculated the total value based on the estimated WTP.
According to the results, WTP per person annually is estimated to range from a minimum of KRW 1,335 to a maximum of KRW 1,358. Total value of 5 day market is calculated to range from a minimum of KRW 122 million to a maximum of KRW 135 million.
Meanwhile, This study attempted to analyze the production inducement and value added effect of 5-day market using regional input output analysis. Production inducement of Gyeonggi region amounted to KRW 3.4 billion and value added inducement amounted to KRW 1.4 billion.
At the national level, Production inducement and value added inducement was calculated KRW 4.6 billion and KRW 1.9 billion, respectively.
Additionally, this study presented the market revitalization plan and to do this, examined the limitations of the 5-day market and surrounding conditions. The plan I as follows. First, we need to recognize the status and limitations of the 5-day market of Dongducheon. Second, it is necessary to enhance the competitiveness of the 5-day market through spatial reorganization and improvement of operating methods, establishment of local identity.
