This study is a case study of group art therapy that examines the change in happiness of the elderly women living alone. The subjects of the study were four elderly women in their eighty who use the care center for the elderly living alone, and lived alone for more than a year. The group type of the group art therapy program is a subject-centered structural homogeneous group, and the study period was conducted once a week with a total of eight sessions, 80 minutes per session The method of collecting and analyzing the research data was analyzed with the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test by conducting a pre- and post happiness scale of the group art therapy program. And the changes in language expression, emotion, and behavior of the study subjects were qualitatively analyzed by stage of the group art therapy program. The results of this study showed no significant difference in group art therapy on the scale, but showed a positive change in the improvement of the happiness an elderly woman living alone in the process of each session. Group art therapy helped emotional relaxation and psychological stability through the medium, and group members experienced a sense of achievement and satisfaction on their own with the completed work. In addition, positive emotional communication with new people and interpersonal relationships gave off lively and creative energy, and showed a change in attitudes accompanied by active behavior. This study is meaningful in confirming the effect of group art therapy on changes in happiness and providing basic data to clinical sites by applying group art therapy to the elderly woman living alone.
