In this paper, the acceptance of Taoism and its significance of Hwang Joong-yoon(黃中允, 1577-1648)’s literaturary was examined. To this end, I looked through the poems that were published in Dongmyeongjip and novels Cheongoongi and Okhwanggi. As a result, the acceptance of Taoism in Hwang Jung-yun's literarary works was largely accomplished in three ways. First of all, Hwang Joong-yoon enjoyed reading the Taoist book, Zhuangzi, and was able to expand his poetry and pursue the vibrancy of his style by utilizing the vocabulary and expression. Next, Hwang Joong-yoon had a positive perception and attitude toward the supernatural being(神仙). Accordingly, he was able to expand his imagination by actively utilizing the image of ‘supernatural being’ in the creation of poetry and novel. In addition, Hwang Joong-yoon carefully read the Taoist sutra, Huangtingjing(黃庭經), and used it when creating Cheongoongi. As is well known, Cheongoongi is a representative work of the Cheongoon Narritive(天君敍事), that contains the Neo-Confucian mind theory. However, it is significant that Taoist thinking had a major influence on this work. As such, by accepting the Taoism, Hwang Joong-yoon was able to develop new ideas in his novels beyond the framework of Confucianism, the mainstream thought of the time. Hwang Joong-yoon's acceptance of Taoism in literature has something to be evaluated anew in the 17th century literary history.
