The dance of the ancient Korean people is closely related to the unique emotions of our people. In particular, many parts related to today’s Korean folk dance are found in Mahan’s customs during the Samhan period. For example, various dances were performed at Jecheon events across the country, and the first was confirmed as a ritual dance, that is, a shaman dance, performed at Mahan’s traditional religious ritual. In religious ceremonies, dance was an important event and a means of national harmony that connected God and humans, and martial arts were essential in shaman dances where shamans danced using drums and bells, and this shaman dance played an important role in achieving our shaman’s feat today. Second, it can be seen that the Mahans performed a prayer dance directly related to the festival during the national ritual process. All of Mahan’s Jecheon events were ritual activities related to farming, and it can be seen that group dance was performed in a form similar to agricultural work. For example, dozens of people stepped on the ground with their feet, bent their hands (arms) and raised their heads. The movement, which is said to have been lowered, is confirmed as a trace of prayer dance that has achieved community harmony in hopes of a good harvest of farming. Third, it can be seen that Mahan’s unique and independent dance, similar to Chinese Takmu, became popular. Takmu has been practiced since the ancient Chinese Shang Dynasty, and it is confirmed that it has been dancing according to the forms of rituals, martial arts, and martial arts according to the times. Therefore, Mahan’s dance is expected to have a similar rhythm as well as the same movement as the Chinese Takmu ceremony, and the movement of jumping up the ground and looking down at the ground is expected to be a martial arts type Takmu. The Mahan dance described above is characterized by being able to reveal the essence of our dance, which incorporates national sentiment into seasonal customs such as Dano in May and Chuseok in August, a national farming ritual.
