Report Errors
The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends and differences between broadcasters’ multicultural reporting and newspapers’ multicultural reporting. This study also attempts to confirm whether there is a hierarchical relationship between media by analyzing whether the change in the multicultural coverage of newspapers is the cause of the change in the multicultural coverage of broadcasting. Furthermore, by verifying whether a particular broadcaster among the three major broadcasters-KBS, MBC and SBS-leads the multicultural reporting of other broadcasters, this study tries to confirm whether there is a hierarchical relationship between competitive broadcasters concerning multicultural reporting. To this end, the Granger causality test was conducted based on the analysis of multicultural news reports by 10 national daily newspapers including the Chosun Ilbo, and three major broadcasters. In conclusion, the increase in the number of multicultural families has a causal relationship that increases the amount of multicultural coverage in broadcasting. On the other hand, there is no statistically significant relationship between the multicultural coverage of newspapers and the multicultural coverage of broadcasting. On the other hand, in terms of quantitative aspect of reporting, KBS’S multicultural reporting and MBC’s multicultural reporting have a mutual relationship that affects each other. MBC’s multicultural reporting and SBS’s multicultural reporting also have a relationship that impacts each other. However, KBS’S multicultural reporting and SBS’s multicultural reporting have an independent relationship that does not affect each other.
