Although the market of sharing economy is growing rapidly all over the world, the Korean fashion sharing platforms are experiencing difficulties in its early stages. This study analyzes the success factors of the fashion sharing platform based on the successful cases of the US, where the sharing economy was activated. It also proposes a growth plan for the Korea fashion sharing platform. Literature studies and case studies were utilized. In literature review, characteristics of sharing economy and sharing platform were examined. Studies on successful cases have a limited scope, that is, they delved into for-profit fashion sharing platforms focusing on women’s apparel. The results of this study are as follows. First, the basic types identified in the successful cases of the fashion sharing platform include P2P ownership transaction, B2P ownership transaction, P2P usage rights rental, and B2P usage rights rental. In addition, Poshmark, ThreadUp, Style Rend, and Rent the Runway were analyzed as highly successful cases of each type based on operating status, such as history, investment status, business size, and awareness of each fashion sharing platform. Second, the success factors of the fashion sharing platform include availability of sharing resources, reliability, technological capability, accessibility, social connectivity, economic feasibility, and cooperativity. Third, considering the success factors and Korea's current situation, the study proposed a growth plan for Korean fashion sharing platform which includes the following: improving the quantity and quality of sharing resources, ensuring reliability, activating the community, expanding trading channels, building cooperative systems between related parties, improving cost-effectiveness, constructing infrastructures for sharing service, and raising awareness of sharing. The results of this study can be used as basic data to activate the Korean fashion sharing platform in its early stage.
