The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the adolescent's peer relationship on smartphone addiction, and to verify the mediating effect of depression based on escape theory. A total of 802 students from the 1st grade students of middle school to the 2nd grade students of high school were collected. The research results are as follows: firstly, the adolescents' peer relationship had significant effect on smartphone addiction; secondly, the adolescents' peer relationship had significant effect on depression; thirdly, the adolescent's depression was shown to have significant effect on smartphone addiction. The depression showed partial mediating effect on the relationship between the adolescents' peer relationship and smartphone addiction. According to the result, we are able to suggest some implications.
