The school symbol of the school is an important symbol of the school along with the edification and lessons that symbolize the school. Universities with a decreasing number of students are developing and using symbol marks as identity and products. However, the symbol mark of elementary school is gradually losing its identity and meaning. As the number of students in elementary schools in Gangwon-do is decreasing, school facilities are improving by using a large budget such as making small schools and space innovation projects at the Gangwon-do Office of Education, but there is not enough means to promote schools. In this environment, elementary schools in other cities and newly established elementary schools are having a good promotional effect by redesigning symbol marks. Therefore, this study analyzed the expressive characteristics of elementary school symbol marks by classifying them into morphological, type, color, and regional symbol elements by selecting 5 counties(Yanggu, Inje, Cheorwon, Hongcheon, Hwacheon) centering on Gangwon-do and Gangwon National University. Through this study, the problems of elementary schools in Gangwon-do in six cities and counties are summarized. First, these days, trends have changed the characteristics of the local community due to the long production year of symbol marks, but they have not been applied. Second, due to the heavy dependence on natural objects, the design of the symbol mark has no personality, no discrimination from other schools, and is simple. Third, the results were derived that the neutral and blue colors were high at 61.2% of the total, and fourth, there were many symbol marks with similar designs, and based on this, it is expected to be used in various directions for elementary school symbol.
