This study analyzes the development of the national education of Korean residents in Japan after the war through the articles of 『Madang』 published in 1973. It analyzed the developmental pattern of the national education of Korean residents in Japan after Liberation, and examined how the discourse of national education in 『Madang』 was developed and how it is distinguished from the contemporary discourses. Since the minority issue emerged as a social problem in Japan in the 1960s, Japanese government had actively pushed the assimilation policy. As a result, the number of the nationalized Koreans in Japan increases sharply, and the Korean community in Japan faced a transitional situation. Under these circumstances, 『Madang』, published in 1973, delivered the message to Korean community in Japan on the subject of national education. The discourse of national education in 『Madang』 was developed in a way that suggested the alternative of 『Madang』, at the same time as it moved with the contemporary society. The specific methods were first, establishing of national identity through continuous education of parent’s generation at home, second, introducing of Korean language as a liberal arts to the Japanese education system, and third, holding regular history education meetings led by the secretariat. In this way, it was expected to improve the general perception of Koreans in Japan and to recognize the identity of the next generation. Through the discourse on national education of 『Madang』, it was confirmed the value and role of the next generation of the Koreans in Japan. It is the discourse of national education in 『Madang』 that can cultivate the next generation through national education, overcome Japan’s discriminatory structure and assimilation policy on Koreans in Japan, and confirm the blueprint to protect Korean community in Japan.
