This study aims to verify whether SNS usage characteristics (i.e. profile photos, rate of usage) that are increasing in daily life can be used for credit evaluation by investigating the impact on loan repayment. We conducted bionomial logistic analysis with data from Company T’s A loan program, a SNS-rated loan product. The results show that people who use “character and humor photographs” to show openness and extroversion, “social activities and hobbies photos” and “objects and animals” to show strong self-subjectivity are highly likely to repay. It was also found that the more total posts, the more likely you are to repay. Finally, The longer the loan period, the more likely the loan is to be overdue. Therefore, It is useful to use big data, including personal characteristics and SNS usage, as variables in loan screening to thin-filers who do not have financial transaction records. Also, This study would attempt follow-up research including additional variables such as the number of comments and friends.
