China have been developed with economic as eastern coast zone during twenty years after 1978, the economic of western zone have been delayed and the development gap also was enlarged with eastern zone seriously. So, chinese government announced the 'West development policy' on 1999, carried out the project to develop western zone from 2000. On the basis of this background, The paper have studied on the effects that 'West development policy' had on the east and the west district gap in China. In conclusion, western zone of china have get a good achievement during past 10 years at the part of economic scale, income level, SOC, etc. But as this achievement compared with eastern zone, this is very lower and small size than eastern zone. Besides, the paper have conformed that the West development policy could not reduce the east and the west district gap in China. This paper expects, if the government continuously carry out this policy during forty years, economic development gap between district in china will be reduced in the future
