In this study, we investigated the possibility of Paeonia japonica ethanol extract as a cosmetic ingredient and evaluate the antioxidant activity, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic efficacy of those of Paeonia japonica ethanol extract. As a result, DPPH radical scavenging activity, the results showed that the ABTS radical scavenging activity results scavenging activity was similarly measured to determine the increased dose-dependently increased the radical scavenging activity with increasing concentration of Paeonia japonica ethanol extract.
Showed a polyphenol and flavonoid contents of each content of 125.1 ± 0.005 mg/g, 136.1 ± 0.007 mg/g, measured cytotoxicity of the extract of Paeonia japonica ethanol extract results showed a rather result no cytotoxicity at a low concentration. As a result the final increase in the concentration of NO production inhibitory ability Paeonia japonica ethanol extract examined for the Raw 264.7 cell induced by LPS The results showed that NO production is reduced. As seen in the above results, that the active ingredient of the brief Paeonia japonica ethanol extract results to show the high potential as a functional material of cosmetics or the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant expected to application as a natural effect of the cosmetic material having a non-toxic.
