The purpose of this study is to determine whether the milk cream fermented broth of Lactobacillus rhamnosus can be used as the anti-aging cosmetic material improving skin tone and tightening on the aging skin. In this study, we prepared toners and lotions by using control materials such as distilled water (C), milk (M) and milk cream (MC) or various testing materials such as fermented MRS broth (MRS), fermented milk (FM) and fermented milk cream (FMC). We observed changes in the skin of middle-aged women at 40’s~50’s (n = 59) after the cosmetics were applied onto the facial skin for 7 weeks. As a result, decreases in skin surface melanin index (p<.05) and increases skin elasticity (p<.05) were observed in the group of FMC applying the cosmetics prepared with the milk cream fermented broth of L. rhamnosus. These changes were statistically significant. And erythema index (10.57%) and skin roughness (24.15%) were more decreased in the group of FMC than in the control groups. Thus, it was found that the milk cream fermented broth of L. rhamnosus can be used as an anti-aging cosmetic material which improve skin of the middle-aged women with uneven and rough skin tone, sagging skin and less elastic skin due to decreases in collagen and elastic fibers while skin aging proceeds due to internal and external factors.
