The study was conducted in order to develop free throw routines and apply them to female elementary school basketball players and evaluate their impact on the players’ free throw skills based on the data gathered by the aforementioned methods. The purpose of this study is to analyze free throw performance routines of basketball players and develop free throw performance routines suitable for female elementary school basketball players based on the analysis results. The 16 players were divided into two groups (8 players in each) to evaluate and compare the accuracy of free throws through 8 experiments. Based on the data collected, the study examined the changes in free throw performances in actual basketball games. Up to the second experiment, the free throw routine was not applied to either group. From the third to the eighth experiment, the free throw routine scientifically developed by the researcher was taught individually to the subjects in the experimental group and the players in the control group did not receive any training on the free throw routine. T-test was performed in order to assess the differences in the results between groups, which yielded the following conclusions. First, female elementary school basketball players used cognitive clues and behavioral clues before and after they received the ball from the referee to perform free throws. The free throw routine was tailored individually to each player in the experimental group and became more standardized in later experiments. The changes in each experiment were recorded. Second, as a result of training free throw routines in female elementary school basketball players, the experimental group showed a remarkable improvement in free throw accuracy compared to the control group. Third, the T-test of the two groups’ free throw scores showed a significant difference of 5%. Fourth, the analysis of free throw scores of the experimental group players during their participation in a 2010 game showed that the free throw routine training had a positive impact on their free throw performance. In conclusion, the free throw performance routine was found to be positively effective in improving female elementary school basketball players’ free throw performance.
