Clinical practice guideline (CPG) can be defined as “scientifically and systematically developed statements to assist practitioners and patients on making decisions about appropriate health care for specific clinical circumstances.” When rigorously developed using standard process, CPGs have the potential to improve many clinician and patient healthcare decisions, and enhance healthcare quali- ty and outcomes. According to Institute of Medicine report “Clinical Practice Guidelines We Can Trust”, AGREE II tool, and WHO guideline, standard components of CPG can be listed as to 1) be evidence based, 2) be developed by a knowledgeable, multidisciplinary panel of experts, 3) consider important views and preferences of the target population (patients, public, etc.), 4) be protected from conflicts of interest during their development, 5) be reviewed periodically and updated as nec- essary, 6) appropriate process and contests for recommendation, 7) report and consider proper scope of CPGs, and 8) include a dissemination and implementation plan.
