Phantom array can be observed when time-modulated light sources are observed during saccadic eye movements. The phantom array visibility has large variations in different person. Therefore, it is necessary to study on between- and within-individual variation to find out the relationship between phantom array visibility and individual eye-movement speed. In this study, two participants were repeatedly tested 10 times a day over 10 days to investigate whether the phantom array visibility remains steady. Experimental stimulus, a warm white LED with luminance of 25,000cd/㎡ was used, and the participant"s phantom array threshold frequency was estimated using the weighted up-down method. The speed of eye movements was also measured to determine variations of the speed of eye movement cause the variation of the phantom array visibility. One participant"s phantom array visibility decreased as the experiment over time in each day, which was related to the decrease of the speed of eye movement over time in each day. However, the other participant showed relatively consistent phantom array visibility and the speed of eye movement was also consistent within each day and in different days. The results show that the tendency of the phantom array visibility depends on the tendency of the eye movement speed in each subject even though the tendency of the eye movement speed is different in each participant.
