In response to the increasing demand for low-calorie foods and policies on sugar intake in line with health oriented social trends, research on functionalized rare sugars is being conducted worldwide. Therefore, this study aims to introduce rare sugars and analyze the technology and market trends according to their features and functions. The types of rare sugars include D-Allulose, D-Allose, D-Tagatose, and Xylitol. In order to confirm domestic and overseas R&D trends, the entire patent application status was investigated. As a result, a total of 5,381 cases were identified, and the technology trends are being studied in the fields of production technology for mass production, food, medical & bio, agriculture, and environment. The scale of market trends indicates a growing trend in the domestic and overseas sweetener market and bio pesticide market.
