This study attempted to verify the mediating effect of active and passive stress coping strategies in the effect of adolescent athletes' indirect trauma experiences on secondary trauma stress. To verify this, the results of verifying the indirect influence of stress coping strategies in the impact of indirect trauma experiences on secondary trauma stress on 241 athletes from middle and high school in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do are as follows. First, it was found that the indirect trauma experience of middle and high school athletes directly had a positive effect on secondary trauma stress. Second, in the effect of indirect trauma experience on secondary trauma stress, the passive stress coping strategy was found to have an indirect negative effect, but the active stress coping strategy had no statistically significant indirect effect. Through this, indirect trauma experience can cause secondary trauma stress, but if all players who have experienced indirect trauma experience the same level of secondary trauma stress but passively cope with the stress of indirect trauma experience, the level of secondary trauma stress can increase.
