This study attempted to review and analyze the previous studies to find out the meaning of life through the lens of the qualitative meta-integration method for Seon-yeong Kang, an intangible cultural asset of Taepyeongmu. For the purpose of the study, five previous studies related to Seon-yeong Kang’s life history were collected, reviewed and analyzed with the qualitative meta-integration method. As a female traditional dancer, two core themes were found in Seon-yeong Kang’s life. First, the concept of “Overcoming Negative Social and Cultural Perceptions toward Gender Equality” was traced in her life. Her life was filled with passion and effort to overcome negative social and cultural prejudice toward women's education and dance. Secondly, she struggled with “Economic Hardships.” She lived with economic hardships due to misunderstanding toward traditional dance itself and female dancers. Four core concepts were derived from the meaning of life as an intangible cultural property holder. First, she went through the steps of “becoming a pupil,” “education for traditional basic dance” and “strict educational circumstances for dance.” Secondly, her passion and efforts to cultivate Korean traditional dance were emerged in her lief with “specialization of Taiheibu” and “specialization of Korean dance.” Thirdly, Seon-yeong Kang’s efforts to make popular Korean traditional dance were appeared with “construction of art and cultural space” and “consistent and regular performance.” Fourthly, efforts to develop an organization regarding Korean traditional dance were found with the concepts of “fostering various dance groups,” “deepening dance studies” and “up-grading and transforming status.”
