The purpose of this study was to explore pre-service physical education teachers’ difficulties in writing lesson plans. A total of 180 lesson plans in five universities was collected and analyzed via qualitative research. In result, the participants had a tenancy to write lesson plans without sufficient consideration of class environment in a superficial manner. And they did not understand the concept of a creative class. In conclusion, participants need to learn how to write lesson plans instead of what to write and need to understand a clear conception of a term that is commonly used in lesson plans. Also, the plan for students who do not participate in class and forming a team should be required, in advance of writing lesson plans.
