Purpose: The purpose of this study was to systematically review the factors related to stress of military officers in the Republic of Korea. Methods: Based on the guidelines of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA), a literature search was conducted using seven databases, including KMBASE, KISS, KoreaMed, RISS, KNBASE, Science On, DBpia in Korean. Of 418 publications identified, 11 studies were finally included in this systematic review. The Checklist for Analytical Cross Sectional Studies was used to assess the quality of the studies. Results: Extracted factors related to stress were as follow; 12 personal factors and 14 job related factors. Regarding personal factors, demographic characteristics such as age, marital status, and sex were highly relevant, while the soldier's status was highly relevant followed by salary grade in job-related factors. Among both personal and job-related stressors, age and status were found to be the more powerful stressors for professional soldiers. Conclusion: In this review, the factors related to stress of military officers in the Republic of Korea were extracted and summarized. These results suggest that the need for mental health promotion programs that will reduce stress experienced by military officers.
