The National Museum of Korea is recognized as a representative cultural space in Korea. For more than 120 years, the museum has continuously developed and changed through various hierarchical projects. This study aims to confirm the changes in space utilization of public spaces on time serial changes. They are first Based on various reports and literature published by the National Museum of Korea. The museum"s role, function, and spatial changes are identified, and the utilization situation is checked concerning the changes in the role and function of actual public spaces over time. Secondly, field visits and interviews with officials are conducted to ask a wide range of questions about changes in the roles and functions of museums as a whole, as well as spatial changes and perceptions, to build data that can identify aspects. Lastly, it is possible to examine the changes in the use of public space over time, the reasons for such changes based on the data collected and organized in the first and second courses, and the data on changes in perceptions of space use established through interviews. According to the study, the change in the utilization of public space by museums is based on the changing perceptions of museums, especially the provision of services centred on consumers and the role of museums beyond exhibition viewing. As museums have expanded their scope beyond the simple functions of collecting, preserving, and exhibiting to become "education institutions" and "complex cultural spaces" and then "cultural leisure spaces," public spaces have tried to become more visitor-friendly. In this process, It has taken on the value of hybrid spaces by accommodating both traditional museum functions and functions according to the new role of museums while blurring the boundaries between various existing functional areas or spaces.
