Organic-inorganic perovskite solar cells, which feature remarkable electrical and optical characteristics, are the most promising candidates for next-generation photovoltaic materials. However, their commercial applications are limited owing to the instability of perovskite. In this context, we conducted a study to improve the stability of perovskite using 2D/3D stacked thin films. We deposited 2D BA₂PbI₄ (BA = butylammonium) perovskite on the surface of 3D FAPbI₃ (FA = formamidinium) perovskite via plane growth resulting in the formation of clear 2D/3D stacked thin films. The introduction of 2D perovskite leads to improved device performance and stability because defect-induced non-radiative recombination and thin-film degradation are suppressed.
