The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of elite goalkeeper players by utilizing goalkeeper records collected at the 2022 Qatar World Cup. For a total of 64 games, 20 variables for shooting, passing, goal kick, cross, and swiper were used to confirm differences by country, whether they advanced to the round of 16, and the results of the game. The results of the study showed that there was no difference in the winning or losing group, and no interaction effect was found for the passing time and place. First, in terms of goalkeeper characteristics by continent, European and South American goalkeepers had a lower loss rate and a higher save% than other continents. Second, in terms of the characteristics of goalkeeper players following their advance to the round of 16, the fewer effective shots, runs, expected runs, and goal kick attempts, and the higher the number of cross blocks and cross blocking rates, the difference was in whether they would advance to the round of 16. Third, the lower the number of effective shots allowed, runs, and expected runs, the more the winning result was, and the higher the 40-yard goal kick ratio, the average goal kick length, the number of cross blocks and blocking rates, the difference was. Based on these results, it is believed that it can be provided as basic data for goalkeeper coaches and sports scientists.
