The study, based on the discussion of post-humanism centered around the concept of "Zoé," and aiming to move away from the human-centric binary thinking of human and non-human, examines the relationship between humans who create artificial intelligence robots and humans. It explores human passion, expectations, anxiety, and fear towards future societies. To do this, two movies, "Zoe" (2018) and "Extinction" (2018), were selected, where artificial intelligences with humanoid appearances appear and come to realize their identity as artificial intelligences.
In these two films, the study investigates the similarities and differences between artificial intelligence characters and humans, as well as how the relationships between artificial intelligence characters and humans are portrayed. As a result of the study, in movies featuring artificial intelligence robots embodied in human forms, synthetics were similar in appearance to humans, but there was a difference in that the inside of the body was filled with artifacts. Furthermore, while human memories are considered unalterable, artificial intelligence memories can be manipulated, modified, and deleted, giving them a certain privilege.
On the other hand, emotions and personalities are considered unique human traits, but as synthetics evolve, they can also expresse their feelings and emotions. This becomes a potentially threatening ability that makes artificial intelligence an important factor, as it may equalize with humans. The study suggests the need for contemplation and reflection on the concept of human in anticipation of the future development of artificial intelligence technology. It also hopes for a more active discussion related to post-humanism, expanding the concept of life centered around zoé, to promote the symbiosis of humans and artificial intelligence in the future.
