This paper explain the control structure of the rotor side converter and the grid side converter, and dynamic modeling including the grid, turbine-pump, governor, DFIM, and back-to-back converter used in variable speed DFIM systems through the turbine-pump model. The rotor speed was controlled using a governor, and the back-to-back converter was controlled according to the power control. Variable speed systems can provide the advantages of constant speed systems while also securing reserve power, reducing the difficulty of operating power systems compared to constant speed systems. Therefore, it was designed to operate in a wide speed range by operating in the super/sub-synchronous mode according to the power command and operating speed, and the time of power change due to the change in the effective power command was confirmed. By comparing the characteristics of the governor and the converter, the operating speed of the controller was compared, and it was confirmed that the speed and power of the variable speed DFIM system could be independently controlled. When the speed and power were simultaneously changed for efficient operation, the fast power response characteristics of hundreds of ms were confirmed through current and voltage control through a converter.
