The study suggests the necessity of establishing a new professional sports education institution apart from the existing system of student-athlete nurturance in Korea. Therefore, the study proposes an implementation of basic plans for appropriate directions of policies, education system, facilities, operation and profit structure for the establishment of innovative sport education institutes. Many common points surfaced upon reviewing various overseas cases. Student-athletes simultaneously engage in academics and training. The rights to learn are thoroughly ensured. Moreover, sports science professions and professional leaders are assigned to improve the performance of student-athletes. There are professional training athletes providing dormitories for training student-athletes professionally. Based on these previous studies, the conclusions of this study are as follows: To establish an innovative educational institution, there must be set a vision, a goal, and a precise direction of policy. Above all, there needs an advanced education operating system that prioritizes the students’ rights to learn. A balanced operating system must be implemented for students to engage in academics and training simultaneously. Further, a system that can organically link school, life, and professional sports must be promoted. The system shall construct quality facilities to improve the utilization and be able to conduct specialized training programs.
