With growing global concerns over greenhouse gas emissions and climate change, the energy efficiency of buildings has gained significant attention as a means to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprints. In response, various countries have implemented building energy efficiency certification systems, which aim to promote energy-efficient buildings, enhance transparency in the real estate market, and ultimately contribute to sustainable development goals (SDGs). This study examines the current status, impacts, and implications of building energy efficiency certification systems, focusing on their economic, environmental, and social effects. The research utilizes a two-pronged methodology comprising descriptive statistics and text network analysis. First, data from the Building Energy Efficiency Certificate System in Korea were analyzed to identify certification trends across building types and regions, as well as the distribution of certification levels. Second, a text network analysis was conducted to explore the semantic structure of discussions related to building energy efficiency, identifying key themes and their interrelationships. This study provides insights into the current landscape of building energy efficiency certification, emphasizing the need for strengthened connections between preliminary and final certifications, the promotion of high-efficiency buildings, and the incorporation of renewable energy technologies. By addressing these aspects, the study contributes to policy development and market strategies for achieving sustainable and energy-efficient buildings.
