This study is designed to determine the effects of 12 weeks of weight training and complex training on the results of the Y-balance test (YBT), a dynamic stability test, in high school football players. Research design, data, and methodology: This study included 24 high school football players with no medical problems and willing to participate voluntarily. The subjects were divided into a weight training group (WTG: n=13) and a compound training group (CTG: n=11). YBT was measured twice before and after training, and included anterior (AT), posteromedial (PM), posterolateral (PL), and composite scores (CS). Data were analysed using the SPSS 25.0 statistical program, with paired-t tests for pre- and post-training comparisons and independent-t tests for comparisons between training groups. The level of statistical significance was set at p<.05. Results: Training resulted in a significant change in PL for both the left and right foot in the WTG group ( p<.05) and a significant change in CS for the right foot in the WTG group ( p<.05). There were no significant changes in any of the other measures from pre- to post-training and between groups. Conclusion: Weight training has been shown to improve YBT outcomes in high school football players. However, in addition to training to improve strength, a regime to improve the mobility of the body's joints, including the ankles and hips, should be added.
