This paper critically examined the view that the production system of Baekje earthenware was broken in the wake of a historical event in which King Jangsu of Goguryeo captured Hanseong in 475. To this end, rather than historical circumstances, we looked at the formation of relics in which Baekje earthenware and Goguryeo earthenware were shared in an archaeological context.
As a result, Goguryeo pottery and Baekje pottery were excavated together from Goguryeo’s official palace ruins south of Gyeonggi-do, and it is thought that Baekje pottery was produced and produced until after 475. In addition, the 88-2 residence surveyed in the southeastern district of Mongchontoseong, the capital of Baekje, is a typical hexagonal residence, and is thought to have been built and used by Baekje residents during the Goguryeo period. In addition, the rectangular residence surveyed at the northern gate of Mongchontoseong is also a residence where Baekje residents lived during the Goguryeo period.
It is noteworthy that there was a ritual using high-end Baekje earthenware after the rectangular residence was abandoned. Considering this, high-end Baekje earthenware was manufactured and used even after 475, which means that there is a Baekje ruling class that cooperates with Goguryeo’s power.
