AbstractThe purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the participation motives of SNPE participants on exercise adherence and exercise commitment, and the mediating effect of psychological resources in exercises. An online survey was conducted with participants in Seoul and the metropolitan area, and a total of 349 responses were used for final analysis. Frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, structural equation modeling, and bootstrap validation were carried out. First, participation motives, psychological resources in exercise, exercise adherence, and exercise commitment had positive correlations. Second, the structural model was confirmed to fit, and path analysis of the structural model revealed that participation motives had a positive effect on psychological resources in exercise, exercise adherence, and exercise commitment. Third, psychological resources in exercise had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between participation motives and exercise adherence, and a full mediating effect in the relationship between participation motives and exercise commitment. The results proved that psychological resources in exercise is a psychological mediating factor that enhances continuous participation in SNPE and exercise commitment.
