As the number of chemicals increased, the amount of micropollutants entering river water also increased. These substances need to be monitored because they may have a potential concern for the aquatic environment. In this study, LC-Q-TOF/MS based suspect/non-target screening was used to detect and quantify hundreds of micropollutants simultaneously, including pesticides, pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), and industrial chemicals in the Miho River basin in Korea. In total, 33 chemicals (9 pesticides, 19 PPCPs, and 5 industrial substances) were identified. Pesticide residues were detected at the highest concentration in the upstream of the Miho River, where agricultural lands and golf courses were nearby. The PPCP residue was detected at the highest concentration in the midstream and the industrial chemical residue was detected at the highest concentration in the downstream. Both points were adjacent to the industrial complex and the wastewater treatment plant. In addition, the priority of substances was selected using a priority selection system based on the maximum concentration and detection frequency. Thus, a total of 18 chemicals (4 pesticides, 10 PPCPs, and 4 industrial substances) in the Miho River basin were calculated with scores of 100 or more and were identified as high exposable compounds.
