The rapid ageing of modern society has introduced new demands for the design and management of senior community facilities. This study examines the impact of biophilic design on senior community centres, with the aim of identifying specific biophilic design elements applicable to these spaces. The research employs a literature review and case analysis, focusing on four selected case studies. These cases illustrate the diverse applications and effectiveness of biophilic design across various cultural contexts, demonstrating how integrated natural elements, such as sunlight, natural ventilation, and indoor gardens, contribute to stress alleviation, psychological comfort, and social interaction among seniors. Furthermore, this study explores the sustainability dimensions of biophilic design, noting not only the utilisation of natural elements, such as sunlight and plants, but also sustainable features, including energy-saving systems, resource recycling, and spacious, barrier-free layouts, as essential factors in improving the environment of senior community centres. In conclusion, this research confirms that biophilic design has a significant impact on the planning and operation of senior community centres, underscoring the importance of an integrated design approach to enhance the physical and mental well-being of elderly residents. Future research should explore biophilic design applications across a broader range of cultural and regional contexts to provide deeper insights into senior community design. This study provides foundational data and a valuable reference for researchers and practitioners in the field, supporting the development of senior communities that prioritise both environmental sustainability and the well-being of elderly residents.
