This study analyzes Korean dance-related news articles published between 2010 and 2025 to explore temporal changes in discourse and keyword structures. Using data from the BIG KINDS database, the search terms included “Korean dance,” “Korean traditional dance,” and “Korean choreography.” After keyword refinement, semantic network analysis was performed with KrKwic and Python to visualize core concepts and structural changes across three periods: 2010–2015, 2016–2020, and 2021–2025.
Results show that article frequency remained steady until 2018, peaking at 171, but declined sharply after 2020, likely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the first period, traditional art-centered terms such as “Korean dance” and “performance” were prominent. In the second period, keywords like “dance company” and “organizers” reflected growing institutional and public engagement. The third period featured terms such as “contemporary dance” and “collaboration,” indicating a shift toward hybrid and modern forms. Centrality analysis revealed that “Korean dance” and “citizens” consistently functioned as key nodes, while newer concepts gained importance over time. This study highlights the evolving narrative of Korean dance from tradition to contemporary expression within media discourse.
