This study aims to examine how the Hangul education contents program that the IPTV provides affects children’s reading?writing ability in terms of the IPTVs educational aspects. The subjects of this paper are 30 three-year-old children attending S Daycare Center and L Daycare Center located in Buyeo-gun, Chungnam. 15 children from S Daycare Center were arranged into the experimental group which received reading and writing education applying the Hangul education contents program using IPTV, and 15 from L Daycare Center were assigned into the control group which received reading and writing education according to the standard educare curriculum. To attain the research goal, this study considered advanced research to examine the characteristics of the IPTV as an educational tool, before the experimental class. However, there is not much advanced research dealing with children regarding the IPTV; thus, this study mainly examined advanced research using the computer, CD-ROM, or the internet which has the similar characteristics as media regarding children’s reading and writing. Based on the research result showing that education that utilizes it has positive learning effect on children, it can be inferred that the Hangul education contents program using IPTV will have positive effect on children’s reading?writing ability, too. Through the experiment, this research has drawn following conclusions.
First, the experimental group that performed reading activity applying the Hangul education contents program using IPTV did show more significant difference in reading ability than the control group conducting reading activity according to the standard educare curriculum. In other words, the Hangul education contents program using IPTV does improve children’s reading ability.
Second, the experimental group that performed writing activity applying the Hangul education contents program using IPTV did show more significant difference in writing ability than the control group conducting writing activity according to the standard educare curriculum. In other words, the Hangul education contents program using IPTV does improve children’s writing ability.
To sum up the research result, the Hangul education contents program using IPTV is effective in improving children’s reading and writing ability.
