This study aims to examine the community spirit of wheelchair basketball players that they develop in the process of playing games by means of phenomenological study methods that understand the fundamental features and meanings of phenomena as they are. To this end, the purposeful sampling was adopted for the players in the wheelchair basketballs in city B and city D. 8 individuals were chosen as the interviewees, and the in-depth interviews were conducted before and after the games, meal times and moving times. The researcher''s participant observation was conducted while he observed and participated in the training. The recordings were copied and analyzed in application of the 7 step data analysis process based on the theory of Giorgi(1985), and as a result, 57 semantic units were collected. They were summarized to 12 sub-categories, and again categorized into three groups. The results are as follows:

1) A serotonin in my life

First, as wheelchair basketball functioned as the positive facilitator among the participants, changes in the individuals'' perspectives and physical perspectives were observed.
Second, the participants showed absorption in and zeal for wheelchair basketball, and participating in wheelchair basketball produced unique memories as well as a sense of accomplishment in developing skills and victories.
Third, wheelchairs were necessary for ''walking,'' and those designed for basketball were wings that were indispensable to them.
Fourth, the participants regularly participated in athletics in daily life through wheelchair basketball, which became part of their lives for vitality and health.

Wheelchair basketball functioned as a positive facilitator among the participants, and resulted in changes in the individuals'' perspectives and physical perspectives. This was defined as ''a serotonin in my life. Wheelchair basketball helped participants develop a sense of belonging, understanding of and need for sports, feeling of rewarding, connection with the community, and emotional bond with sports. It turned out that wheelchair basketball players develop a high level of community spirit.

2) A family of one mind

First, participants in wheelchair basketball formed a community in which they shared encouragement, trust, and reliability among the members. They saw each other their ''alter ego'' in the games, and regarded themselves as one.
Second, participants presented the significance of ''unity'' for the team. They showed a strong will and bond toward the team and, not giving up during the training sessions.
Third, the participants did not distinguish the disabled from the non-disabled. They kept an open mind toward games where the disabled and the non-disabled would participate all together.

The participants developed a strong community spirit through the team sport, wheelchair basketball, formed a family-like comradeship, and formed a big community. This phenomenon was represented by their strong community spirit including comradeship, commitment, and trust. They were gathered with the trouble in common, developed through wheelchair basketball, pursued the same goal, and continued to make their history and tradition of a community, which develops the community spirit and feeling of a united family.

3) To become closer to the world with the round feet

First, the participants were not professional elite sports players but had their own jobs as they participated in the training. Thus, they were sometimes negligent in the training.
Second, the participants hoped to work out in a better environment and a better condition, which indicates that they wanted to establish and improve their status as players of wheelchair basketball.
Third, participating in wheelchair basketball contributed a lot to positive changes in health, positive minds, and self-confidence in daily life.
Fourth, the participants felt that participating in wheelchair basketball turned negative and limited ideas on disability to positive ones, and affected their mental attitude and personality. It contributed a lot to establishing their identities as well. Fifth, each participant expressed their ideas as wheelchair basketball players on the game management, larger scale competitions with teams from other regions, stating the need for equality, support and management of wheelchairs designed for basketball, and participation of young players.

The participants had felt isolated and pursue d a better life. They experienced changes in emotional perspectives and strengthened their social capacities while overcoming the social barrier through the wheelchair basketball experiences.
