A Study on the Preference of Eco-Friendly Houses

This paper deals with the current issue of urban residence housings, and suggests that the practical design and the eco-friendly house construction plan for urban citizens who are planning the eco-friendly house as an indicator of the eco-friendly alternative, by analyzing the preference of residential housings, based on the survey conducted at Ansolgi village, Sancheong-gun selected as survey designation place, where is recently getting attention as the eco-village and alternative residential houses.

The results of this paper are as follows,

Analysis results of the future house requirements of the survey respondents show that the average of 50s men prefer 165square meters flat configuration house on less than about 330-660square meters of land for a family of 4, expecting 3-4million won per 3.3square meters construction cost, approximately less than 300-400 million as the total investment cost. On average, most of those surveyed want two bathrooms, whereas some of them also desire one bathroom, even in a large family living three generations together.

45% response to having a reception room(tea room) as the special space they want to have in their houses, hoping to separate a living room and a reception room. In case of extended family living together, they want to have a studio(work place) as economic concept, and a hobby room for self-development and general activities of family members.

The ctitical problems for urban housing are parking, which is most common realistically appeared, crime, noise, odor, standardized appearance, and inefficient energy consumption. The questionnaire survey for the image of the eco-friendly housing shows that the eco-friendly housings in harmony with a pleasant natural environment are preferred. The study on this topic finds a correlation between them.

According to the result of preference survey for eco-friendly house, Western + Hwangtoh(natural soil for good health) house among 18 houses conducted the survey, which combine stable western-style with a fair view and traditional Hwangtoh house-style in harmony with nature, are preferred.

This Paper figures out that urban citizens recognize the Hwangtoh as the best material suited to eco-friendly housing and desire to take advantage of eco-friendly image to build eco-friendly houses.
