The aim of this study was to explore the effects of combined treatment of chlorella intake and exercise training on ERK, p38 MAPK and JNK expression in aging rat`s soleus tissue. Forty male Sprague Dawley rats, 16 months old, were used. Experimental groups were randomly divided into 4 groups : CG(control group, n=10), EG(exercise group, n=10), CIG(chlorella intake group, n=10), and CI+EG(chlorella intake + exercise group, n=10). The chlorella intake was composed of 20% protein, and 35% fat. In the exercise groups, the rats treadmill exercise for 50 min/day, 5days/week for 12 weeks. Western blotting analysis for the expression of ERK, p38 MAPK and JNK was performed. Data analysis was done by computer using as SPSS(Ver. 20.0) and one?way ANOVA ; the results of this study are follows: the exercise with chlorella intake group and the exercise group and the chlorella intake group showed a significant increase in ERK1/2 expression of MAPK compared to control group; the exercise with chlorella intake group and the exercise group and the chlorella intake group showed a significant decrease in p38 MAPK expression of MAPK compared to control group; the exercise with chlorella intake group and the exercise group and the chlorella intake group showed a significant decrease in JNK expression of MAPK compared to control group.
In conclusion, regularly exercise with chlorella intake was very effective method to improve cell development system and reducing apoptosis in aging. Further research regarding the effects of exercise and chlorella intake is required.
